Hello faithful readers, and good news: you can cancel the search parties. I’m alive. And I’ve got a new book for you—even better, it’s the start of a new series in a familiar world.
THE SEALED CITADEL is set in the same universe as the Cycles of Arawn and Galand, but in an earlier time. A much different one. A time when Cally, the man who would later mentor Dante Galand, is just a young sorcerer himself. Yes, that’s right. It’s about Cally.
This is the first in a new series of what will probably be three or four books. To get it off to a nice start, and for fun, it’s currently just $0.99 on Amazon (UK version here) or can be read through Kindle Unlimited. It’s out on paperback, too.
Audiobook questions: will there be one? Yes. Will Tim Gerard Reynolds be narrating? Also yes, and it should be awesome to hear him voice young Cally. I think he’s slated to start recording any day now, so that ought to be out sometime this summer.
Using my almighty power of “having done this for a while,” I foresee another question: Galand #6? Yep, on the way—in fact, I’m almost done with the first draft, so expect the ebook in June, with Tim starting the audio narration shortly thereafter, making for a probable autumn release.
Starting a new series is always both exciting, but also a total gut-wrencher. You never know if it’s going to take off, or, to paraphrase a wise robot, flop like an automated flopping machine. With that in mind, I am extra grateful to everyone who picks this one up. Getting to write Cally’s voice again was a blast. I’m excited to see where the rest of his story leads.
As always, thanks for reading,
– Ed
First of all. I was extremely excited to get the amazon update email earlier today. I insta-bought the book.
Is there any possibility of re-releasing the whole Cycle saga in hardcover? Or is it likely going to just stay as a paperback & ebook?
The original Cycle of Arawn should all be available in hardcover on barnesandnoble.com. I may do the Galand series when it’s done, we’ll see.
Thank you very much! The book is excellent so far
Will #6 in the cycle of galand be the last? I really hope not I’m so invested in the lives and adventures of Dante and blaze I never want it to end!
I’m planning for this series to end on book seven, so you’ve got a couple left. I love the characters and world too, so I might do more with them at some point, but I’m not sure just yet.
I hope you are closer to completing book 7. Though it’s not exciting to think of it ending with that volume. I’m not big on sci/fi, but I love the world you’ve created for Dante, Blase, and Cally. I have found that I am comparing all other stories I’m reading with your world building! Not exactly the best thing seeing that I read about 10 books a week. I don’t re-read because I don’t forget stories even years later. I don’t imagine you want to be stuck in one world for your writing career. What other stories of yours are more fantasy than sci/fi??? I’d be interested in reading more of your work!
I’m 1/3 of the way through #7, I should have it out before year’s end. Oh—and I’m going to need one more book after that to finish this, so #8 will be the last one now.
This is the only fantasy world I’ve got out so far, but there’s going to be a new book in a new fantasy world out this fall, so we’ll see how that goes! And I’ve been sitting on an idea for another world I’m hyper-excited about for a few years now—but I don’t want to delve into that one until I’ve got the main Galand series wrapped up, because the worldbuilding on it is going to require all the focus I can give it.
that’s very exciting! So much so that I have made this webpage one of my “favorites” so I can check in regularly! I look forward to more of your worldbuilding!!! Maybe I’ll give your sci/fi a chance while I wait… Never know.
I really hope you do more with them I’m such a fan! I’ll also be reading your new series, I enjoyed the role cally played in dante’s life and am interested in his backstory! Thankyou for your response and keep these awesome stories coming!
HA, was worried you would leave us hanging on Book 6. As for THE SEALED CITADEL, you are off to a great start. Cally is a character that is very interesting. Be nice to read how he meet the old lady in Collen, lol.
I seriously cannot wait for the rest of the cycle of galand to come out on audiobooks. I think Tim was the perfect choice for the narration such an amazing story. I powered through all of the cycle of arawn and the cycle of galand audiobooks in a little over two weeks. my favorite series to date! Can’t wait for the sealed Citadel audiobooks!! Keep up the amazing work!
Love your work, can’t wait to bathe in this univurse once again.
Thanks for expanding on this amazing world you have created! I too was hoping for more after the Cycle of Galand, and this is exactly what I hoped for only sooner. You have a fan for life.
great book my son and I love your work and this amazing world. but how will we keep you in a COMFY chair if you give your work away for free?
Any update on the audio book?
Tim’s in high demand, so I think he’ll record it late autumn/early winter, meaning I’d expect it near the end of the year or early next year.
Hey is The Cutting Room a single novel or are you planning on going back to end. Tbh I really just don’t want to be left on a cliffhanger and it be another 3 years before you come back around to it
Hey Ed, I’m currently listening to The Sealed Citadel, which so far has been just as good as all of the Cycles books – but I’m curious if you’re aware of all the problems with the audiobook version of The Sealed Citadel. The production quality is terrible and there are large sections that sound like Tim recorded them on a cellphone or something. Anyway, big fan of all your books so keep up the great work!
Yeah, I saw a number of reviews along those lines. I don’t think there’s anything that can be done about this one, but if my publisher isn’t already aware of this, I’ll make sure they are for the next one.
Hey Ed,
Any update on the audio. Just started listening, and it’s not easy listening…lol
Just thought I’d ask.
Always great work.
Hello Ed I absolutely LOVE all of your Dante and now Cally books thus far, did you ever consider a series looking from the Norren side? I bet it would be a great seller as I have loved the several Norren characters thus far. Please keep writing.
thanks
Bob
