Rebel Stars

freefall-audiobookI feel like the last one just came out—probably because it did—but there are no brakes on the Rebel Stars train. FREEFALL, #4 in the series, is now out on audiobook! Get it on Amazon or Audible, your pick.

If you haven’t gotten into the series yet, some incredibly generous person (wait, that was me!) has made the first three books available for just one credit (Amazon, Audible).

There’s just one more in the series after this, and it’s slated for release later next month. So as a completely disinterested third party, it sounds to me like you would have to be completely insane to not start listening to this now now now now.

Updates? Sure, some updates. Cally Book #2 should finally be out on ebook next month, with Tim recording the audio in September and a planned release date in November. I should have Galand #7 out on ebook right around that same time or a little thereafter (with the audiobook next spring).

Wait, what’s that? And I’ll have something else coming out by the end of the year, too? And it’s a secret that I’ve kept secret for the last couple of years, but which is finally about to come to life and could be mighty cool?

Well, that’s the word on the street, anyway. I suppose the only way to wait out the suspense is to go and listen to FREEFALL.

Good news is here! RONIN: Rebel Stars #3 is finally out on audiobook! Get it on Audible or Amazon.

ronin-audiobookNow is an especially good—or if I might be so bold, perfect—time to start the series, because the first three books (#0-2) are available in a bundle for a measly one credit (also on Audible and Amazon). And the final two books are coming to audio in the next three months.
Set a thousand years in the future from the BREAKERS series, a team of misfits backed by a billionaire unravels a decades-old conspiracy—one that could bring humanity to the brink of extermination for a second time.

For those of you who’ve been waiting on this, sorry it took so damn long. Circumstances, uh, ensued. But it’s here now, and Ray Chase is back in the fold as our narrator. Hope it was worth the wait.

The savvier among you might have noticed that it’s been taking me an unusually long time to finish my current project, the next REBEL STARS book.

Well, that’s because I wasn’t writing one Rebel Stars book. I was writing two of them. And I’ve finished the series.

Oh, and if you haven’t started the series yet, I’ve also put the first three books in a box set on both ebook and audiobook. And the ebook box is temporarily just $0.99. And all of these are available everywhere.

If you’re completely unfamiliar with the series, Rebel Stars is a space opera set 1000 years in the future of the BREAKERS series, where a motley crew must come together to expose—and fight back against—a deep conspiracy that threatens to destroy the human species.

Without further ado, let’s get started on the insanely long list o’ links!

Fun thing about this book: when I start a series, I usually have no idea how it’s going to end. But one of the very last scenes in STARDUST, right before the epilogue, is something I’ve had in mind since before I wrote a single word of these books. Finally getting to write it after three and a half years of waiting felt pretty special.

Onto the box set! This includes books 0, 1, and 2 of the series: REBEL, OUTLAW, and TRAITOR. Like the others, the ebook can be found on Amazon, Amazon UK, iBooks, Kobo, Nook, and Google Play. The audiobook’s on Audible, Amazon, and iTunes.

(I was hoping to have RONIN out on audio by now, too, but I ran into a snag in production. But I’ll try to get the remaining three in audio over the course of 2018.)

In hindsight, I’m really happy I decided to write these back to back. I knew FREEFALL was going to end on a cliffhanger and I really didn’t want to make everyone wait another 12-18 months until I could clear out the time to write and publish the final novel. One of my chief goals is to always deliver the end of a series in a timely manner. I hope I’ve done so for you once again.

This has also cleared the decks for me to focus on the CYCLE OF GALAND in 2018. I have nothing else major going on, so I’ll have two new Galand books out year, likely one in the spring and one in late summer/early fall, which means the respective audiobooks will probably be out in the summer and late fall. I’ve already started plotting book #5 and will start the actual writing after I’ve had a few more days to recover from the last six months of work!

Is that it? Yes, I think that’s it for now. I very much hope you enjoy the rest of the series.

For reference, here’s the complete REBEL STARS series in order:

REBEL (Book 0)

OUTLAW (Book 1)

TRAITOR (Book 2)

RONIN (Book 3)

FREEFALL (Book 4)

STARDUST (Book 5)

RONIN, Rebel Stars #3, is now live! You can find it just about everywhere: Amazon, Amazon UK, B&N Nook, iBooks, Kobo, Google Play, and paperback.

ronin-finalI’m pretty pleased with this one—the plot takes a major leap forward, and sets the stage for the final phase of the story. That’ll take two more books to tell. I have to get back to some other series first, so look for the ending next year.

Oh, and if you’re new to the series, for the next few days, REBEL (Rebel Stars #0) is just $0.99. (It’s on sale at every other store, too.) If you’re an audiobook person, check it out on Audible.

Following RONIN, I’m working on a Sekrit Project, which should be out later this year. As soon as that’s wrapped up, I’ll be moving on to THE CYCLE OF GALAND #3. Expect that one sometime this fall.

Well, if I want to hit those deadlines, I’d better return to work. As always, hope you enjoy the latest book. Drop me a comment if you’ve got any questions.

After a busy month in audiobookland, here’s yet another piece of news: TRAITOR, Rebel Stars #2, is now out in audio!

Find it on Audible, iTunes, and Amazon.TRAITOR-audiobook

Go ahead and buy it if you want—but I’ve decided to give away a whole bunch of copies of any book in the REBEL STARS series. If you’d like a copy of book 0, 1, or 2, sign up for my audiobook mailing list:

Add your Audible email and I’ll gift a copy your way. After, feel free to unsubscribe; this is just the easiest way for me to keep track of things.

Hope this helps keep you busy until the next Rebel Stars book, which should be out in two or three months. Happy listening!

Now live unto the world: STARS & EMPIRE. Ten books of space opera and military SF. Ten of indie science fiction’s biggest authors. All for just $0.99.

And, if you’re one of my readers, the best part? My contribution to this set is a completely brand new book — REBEL, available exclusively within this set. Book zero of the REBEL STARS novels, it kicks off a new series — one set a thousand years in the future of the BREAKERS books.

To my Breakers readers: Don’t worry, the series isn’t over yet. And there are no spoilers in REBEL (besides, I suppose, the one that humanity survived). It was tremendous fun to leap forward in the universe and into space opera, which might be my favorite genre of all.

I hope that comes through in the new book. Hope you enjoy!

Yep. Got a new book out. Here’s the deal:

OUTLAW-2MBIN THE YEAR 2010, an alien virus nearly wiped out the human race. A thousand years later, mankind has recovered and ventured into space. There has been no sign of the aliens since. Humanity remains confined to the Solar System.

All that is about to change.

Mazzy Webber is a lowly janitor on a third-rate cargo ship. Deeply in debt, when his captain decides to turn pirate, he leaps at the chance.

A modern Robin Hood—minus the part where he gives back to the poor—Webber lays down a few ground rules. No attacking manned ships, and no stealing from anyone who can’t afford it. Within months, he and the crew are out of debt. Their next target will make them rich.

But the attack goes all wrong. The target’s cargo could be the death of them—or it could be the key to reaching the stars.

AVAILABLE HERE at $0.99:

By the way, if that description sounds familiar…it should. OUTLAW is the first book in a new series set in the far future of the Breakers universe. While you absolutely don’t have to read the Breakers books to follow along, having that as background should add an extra layer to the fun.

It definitely made it more fun to write. I love space opera and have been wanting to start a new series for a long time. Putting it in the future of my particular world has given it its own unique history and flavor.

On top of that, looking at this as a publisher, this gives readers more to check out. Like the Rebel Stars stuff? Good news! Its apocalyptic history has already been chronicled in the Breakers series. Like Breakers? Well, clear up some space on your ereader! Because here’s what happens long after humanity bounces back.

I really can’t say how much crossover there will be. I can say that combining these series into the same universe pleases the heck out of me as both a writer and as a publisher.

I now have delusions of chronicling the complete history of this world. That might be too ambitious — or possibly too boring! — but it’s an exciting possibility.

That can wait for a later date. For now? Buy buy buy! Buy like the wind! A thousand years of silly fictional history depends on you.
